Building Control in Watford

If you are carrying out building work it is very likely that you will require Building Regulations consent, it is therefore important that you check before commencing that you have approval in place. Works carried out without consent, if detected by the Local Authority can lead to a Local Authority taking legal action. If not detected, the lack of a completion certificate could prevent the future sale of your property.

We can help you with your Building Control in Watford. As the Building Control process is no longer restricted to the Local Authority you have an option to use the services of others. Since 1984 the Construction Industry Council have been approving independent bodies called Approved Inspectors to provide Building Control in competition to Watford council.

Normally, whenever a homeowner decides to make alterations or extend a structure, he or she would have the necessary plans produced and then submits them to the concerned authority. The Local Authority Building inspector or district surveyors legally has up to 5 weeks to make a decision and can with your approval extend this decision date to 2 months.
