Consequences
The Fire Precaution Workplace Regulations are enforced by your Local Fire Authority. The Health and Safety at Work Regulations are enforced by the Local Authority and Health and Safety Executive.
If, when the Fire Authority visits, you have not completed a fire risk assessment and do not have it available for inspection, you may have committed an offence under the fire regulations and could be prosecuted.
Contraventions of the Act could incur the following penalties which may be awarded for each and every offence:
If heard in the Magistrate court: Up to £2,000 for every offence.
If heard in the Crown Court: Unlimited fine and or up to two years in prison.
